Panaji 05 May 2026:Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced the inauguration of the “After Completion of Treatment (ACT) Clinic” at Goa Medical College, marking a major step in strengthening post-treatment cancer care in the state. The clinic is aimed at supporting cancer survivors, especially children and young adults, as they transition into long-term recovery and well-being.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the initiative was signed between Dr J P Tiwari, Dean of Goa Medical College, Dr Anupama Borker, Professor and Head of the Department of Medical Oncology, and Dr Vandana Dhamankar, Director of Survivorship and Rehabilitation at the Indian Cancer Society.

The ACT Clinic will provide structured survivorship care plans, continuous medical monitoring, and holistic support including psychological care, nutrition guidance, and lifestyle counselling. With over 9,000 patients registered at GMC and around 7–8 percent being young individuals with high chances of recovery, the initiative focuses on ensuring not just survival, but long-term quality of life.
