Panaji: In a significant political development, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa State Convenor Shri Rahul Mhambre formally joined the Indian National Congress at a well-attended function held today at the Congress Headquarters, Panaji, in the presence of senior leaders of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC).
The function was attended by GPCC Vice President Tulio De Souza, Vice President Dr. Pramod Salgaonkar, Working President Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira, General Secretary Pradip Naik, Media & Communication Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar, Youth Congress In-charge Janardhan Bhandari, Goa Youth Congress President Adv. Archit Naik, GPCC Spokespersons Mahesh Mhambre and Samil Volvoikar, District Presidents Adv. Shashank Narvekar and Mangaldas Naik, Salman Khan, Nonu Naik along with party office bearers, Youth Congress leaders, Congress workers and supporters.
GPCC President Shri Girish Chodankar formally inducted Rahul Mhambre into the Congress Party by accepting his membership form. GPCC Working President Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira welcomed him with a bouquet, while GPCC Vice President Dr. Pramod Salgaonkar presented him with the Congress flag, symbolising his entry into the Congress family.
Welcoming Rahul Mhambre into the party, Shri Girish Chodankar said that the Congress continues to emerge as the preferred platform for those committed to democracy, constitutional values and the welfare of Goa. He expressed confidence that Rahul Mhambre’s experience, public outreach and commitment to people’s issues would further strengthen the Congress organisation across the State.
GPCC Working President Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira said, “The Indian National Congress has always welcomed individuals who believe in constitutional values, secularism and public service. Rahul Mhambre’s induction will strengthen our organisation, and together we will work tirelessly to restore transparent, accountable and people-centric governance in Goa.”
Expressing his gratitude, Shri Rahul Mhambre said, “I am honoured to join the Indian National Congress, a party that has played a historic role in building and strengthening the nation. After careful consideration, I have taken this decision because I believe the Congress is the only party capable of protecting democracy, safeguarding Goa’s identity and addressing the real concerns of the people. I thank GPCC President Shri Girish Chodankar and the entire Congress leadership for reposing their faith in me. I pledge to work wholeheartedly to strengthen the party at the grassroots, unite like-minded people and fight for the rights, aspirations and future of every Goan.”
The programme commenced with a welcome address by GPCC North Goa District President Adv. Shashank Narvekar. Tulio De Souza, Dr. Pramod Salgaonkar, Amarnath Panjikar addressed the gathering, emphasising the need to strengthen the Congress organisation, uphold democratic values and work unitedly for the progress and welfare of Goa. The function was compered by Pradip Naik and Mahesh Mhambre proposed vote of thanks.
The induction of Rahul Mhambre is expected to further strengthen the Indian National Congress in Goa as the party continues to expand its grassroots presence and build a broad-based movement committed to transparent governance, social justice and the protection of Goa’s unique identity.
