Increased Southwest Monsoon Activity Expected Over Goa



The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a special bulletin indicating an increase in Southwest monsoon rainfall activity over Goa. Due to a shear zone along 16°N at 3.1 km to 5.8 km above sea level, both North and South Goa will likely experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days.

Forecast and Warnings:

  • June 7: Widespread light to moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and winds gusting to 50 km/h. Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected at isolated places.
  • June 8-11: Moderate to heavy rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated spots.
  • June 12-13: Light to moderate rain likely.

  • – Localized mudslides and rough sea conditions
