BJP Goa State Media Convener and Spokesperson Siddesh Shripad Naik has questioned Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge over allegations relating to disproportionate assets, stating that the Congress leadership must address such issues before lecturing others on corruption, governance and accountability.
Naik said it was ironic that Kharge, during his visit to Goa, criticised the BJP and spoke about transparency and good governance when allegations concerning disproportionate assets against him have reportedly come under scrutiny. He said the allegations raise serious questions that require clear and transparent answers from Kharge and the Congress party.
According to Naik, Congress leaders have repeatedly levelled allegations against the BJP while attempting to project themselves as being morally superior. He argued that before pointing fingers at political opponents, the Congress leadership should explain the allegations surrounding its own senior leadership and maintain the same standards of accountability that it demands from others.
Naik said the people of Goa and the country expect transparency and accountability from all public representatives, irrespective of their political position or stature. He stressed that public life requires leaders to answer legitimate questions and that there should be no selective approach when allegations of wrongdoing are raised.
The BJP spokesperson further said that his party believes the law must take its own course and that investigating agencies should be allowed to function independently, without political pressure or interference. He maintained that every individual should be subject to scrutiny and that the truth should be established through due process.
Naik also criticised Kharge’s political attacks on the BJP during his Goa visit, saying that such criticism appears inconsistent when questions are simultaneously being raised about allegations involving his own conduct. He urged the Congress president to address the issues directly and provide clarity instead of limiting his visit to political criticism of his opponents.
Naik said the controversy highlights the need for political parties to follow consistent standards of transparency and accountability. He claimed that the people can distinguish between political rhetoric and actual governance, and asserted that the BJP remains committed to development, transparency and good governance.
