Goa Youth Congress President Archit Naik Slams Rising Drug Menace, Alleges Police Failure

Panaji: GPYC President Adv. Archit Naik has raised serious concerns over the escalating drug menace in Goa, alleging failure of law enforcement agencies and hinting at possible political complicity.

In a press statement, Naik said that Goa’s image across India is rapidly deteriorating from a tourist paradise to a hub of narcotics and lawlessness. His remarks follow the tragic death of a young tourist from Indore, whose postmortem confirmed a fatal drug overdose.

Naik stated that the incident is not isolated, claiming that drugs are now freely circulating beyond coastal areas and have spread into the hinterlands of the state. He questioned the effectiveness of the police in tackling the issue, alleging that authorities have failed to control the growing drug trade.

He also criticised the silence of the BJP’s youth and student wings, BJYM and ABVP, for not speaking out on the matter. According to Naik, their lack of response raises serious concerns and strengthens public suspicion about whether political patronage is enabling the drug network.

Calling for urgent intervention, Naik demanded accountability and concrete action to curb the menace, stating that the people of Goa deserve answers and decisive steps to restore the state’s safety and reputation.
