Panaji: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, while reacting to the ongoing internal political turmoil within the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP), said that no political party can grow by hurting the sentiments of any religion.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said he came across social media posts and press reports in which some party leaders alleged that certain members had made remarks against a specific religion. He stated that such issues should be taken seriously and people must think carefully before taking further decisions.
Chief minister also appreciated the efforts of RGP MLA Viresh Borkar as an Opposition MLA and Manoj Parab as party president, saying it is not easy for a regional party contesting for the first time to secure nearly 10 percent vote share in the State elections. He added that building a regional political party is itself a difficult task.
The Chief Minister further clarified that the party’s internal matters are for them to resolve, but maintained that communal remarks and hurting religious sentiments do not help any political party grow.
