Goa- Aspiring Konkani singers are set to receive an unprecedented opportunity with “Aikat Mozo Tavo,” a music competition led by Simon Rodrigues, Director of Amigos Nite. Scheduled to take place at the Harrow Leisure Centre, UK, this competition aims to celebrate musical talent within the Konkani community. The auditions will commence soon.
Simon Rodrigues shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We are excited to launch Aikat Mozo Tavo, a project close to my heart. This competition is not just about winning but about giving Konkani singers a stage to showcase their talent to the world. I am grateful for the support we’ve received and look forward to discovering new talents.”
Criteria for Audition – Participants must be 18 years or older, possess proficient singing skills, and hold a valid passport. Registration is to be completed online, where applicants will provide their personal details and upload a passport photograph.
Prizes – While the winner will receive a grand prize of 20,000 Pounds, the top 20 contestants will earn the chance to perform in the UK. This not only offers financial reward but also significant exposure and the chance to perform on an international stage.
Judges: The event will showcase a distinguished panel of judges, all of whom are luminaries in the music industry. Few among them are –
- Hemaa Sardesai: The super guru for the event is Hemaa Sardesai, a much-loved rockstar praised for her unparalleled charismatic stage presence. She has brought several illustrious, incomparably commendable international and nationally acknowledged awards, honors, and laurels to India and Goa. With more than 100 songs in Bollywood, her two ‘Superhit Hindi Playback’ renditions rule even today as favorite-most/most-inspirational, ‘Awara Bhavaren (Sapnay)’ and ‘Badal Pe Paon Hai (Chakde India)’. - Risma Leitao: Among the judges is Risma Leitao, daughter of legendary tiatrist Christopher and Meena Leitao, known as Chrismeena on the Konkani stage. Risma has been immersed in the world of music and theater from a young age, continuing her parents’ legacy through her artistic endeavors and active participation in Goan events in the UK.
- Sonia Shirsat: Another esteemed judge is Sonia Shirsat, a celebrated singer who has performed in 19 countries and 16 languages. Sonia, who turned her hobby into a successful career, has received numerous awards, including the National Award in Music, and is known for her inspiring journey in the music industry.
Aikat Mozo Tavo is more than just a competition; it is a heartfelt initiative by Simon Rodrigues. This project, under the banner of AMIGOS NITE, is a tribute to Rodrigues’ late father, father-in-law, and mother-in-law, all ardent lovers of Konkani music.
