15 November 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress–Goa Forward alliance, alleging that both parties lack the seriousness and credibility needed to take on the BJP in Goa. Addressing the media, AAP Working President and National Spokesperson Valmiki Naik said the alliance has repeatedly demonstrated confusion, inconsistency, and opportunism.
Valmiki Naik criticised the Congress for what he termed its poor alliance behaviour, citing the Bihar elections as an example. “Congress and Goa Forward are not serious about fighting the BJP. In Bihar, the Congress contested 60 seats despite having no groundwork and lost on nearly 90% of them. They even fielded candidates against their own allies. This delay and mismanagement helped BJP gain an easy advantage — and they will repeat the same in Goa,” he said.
He also questioned the credibility of Goa Forward, calling its recent actions contradictory. “Goa Forward suspended Amit Sawant over a land scam, yet this is the same party responsible for inserting Section 16B into the TCP Act. Just a day before, they inducted the right-hand man of the biggest land-scam accused in Cumbarjua. Congress, too, inducted Amit Sawant publicly with its senior leadership and later denied it — what kind of politics is this?” Naik asked.
Naik added that both Congress and Goa Forward have a history of “poaching, leader-trading and political theatrics,” and claimed that their behaviour indicates they are more focused on safeguarding personal interests than defeating the BJP.
AAP leader Herton Fernandes echoed the criticism, calling the alliance “weak, shaky and bound to collapse.” He pointed out that despite claims of opposition unity during Diwali, the recent friction between Congress and Goa Forward exposes internal instability. “Only AAP, with its strong grassroots network and committed cadre, is capable of countering the BJP’s election machinery,” Fernandes said.
He further alleged that statements made by Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai reflect a lack of commitment toward genuinely challenging the BJP. “Congress and Goa Forward are not fighting for Goa’s future — they are bargaining for positions and benefits. This is an alliance of convenience, not conviction,” he added.
AAP concluded that Goa needs a credible, clean and committed political alternative — not what it described as parties that “flip-flop, indulge in poaching, and crumble under pressure.”
