Panaji, 2025: The Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C), led by Minister Rohan Khaunte, has rolled out the Campus Innovation Scheme under the Goa Startup Policy 2025, aiming to foster innovation at the college level and strengthen the state’s startup ecosystem.

The scheme—one of the four new initiatives introduced under the updated policy comprising 12 schemes—focuses on promoting student-driven innovation and research within Goa’s educational institutions. It provides reimbursement of up to ₹50,000 per application, strictly covering actual project-related expenses.

A senior DITE&C official highlighted the purpose of the initiative, stating that it not only supports prototyping and research but also encourages students to develop innovative solutions and nurture an entrepreneurial culture on campus.

The scheme will be extended to a maximum of 10 students or teams per financial year. Applicants must be bonafide students of UGC-recognised institutions in Goa, and all proposals must be routed through college-level selection committees.

Colleges are required to set up a committee—as per the issued guidelines—to shortlist projects that demonstrate sustainability, technical merit, and relevance to emerging technologies.

Applications will undergo a multi-step process: proposal submission through the college, college recommendation, evaluation by the Startup and IT Promotion Cell (SITPC), and eventual reimbursement after expenditure. To ensure transparency and monitor progress, institutions must submit quarterly reports to SITPC in the prescribed format.

Earlier in November, the department conducted a meeting with Training and Placement Officers (TPOs) from various colleges at its Altinho office to explain the scheme details and encourage wider participation.

With a focus on enabling students to experiment with new technologies and convert ideas into working prototypes, the Campus Innovation Scheme aims to serve as a springboard for young innovators, preparing them for future entrepreneurial pursuits.
