Margao: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Wednesday stated that BJP used government machinery and other means to intimidate and woo voters, but vigilant people will not fall prey to their tactics.
He was addressing public meeting at Balli. Quepem MLA Altone Dcosta, Congress candidate for Guirdolim Zilla Panchayat Sanjay Velip and others were present.
“BJP is baffled to see the support our candidate has received, they have tried their all might to divide votes, intimidate voters and also to lure many ways. But our voters have self-respect and they know how BJP has ruined Goa, hence they will not vote them,” Alemao said.
“BJP is a ‘Virus; of hatred, intimidation, divide and rule, and corruption. The political parties who secretly ally with them are part of the ‘sin’–they are committing while putting the state and its people in the trouble,” he said.
“Let us not allow this virus to grow in our areas, rather eradicate it with the power of ‘vote’. “ he urged.
MLA Altone Dcosta also expressed confidence that the Sanjay Velip will win this seat as he has good qualities and good connect with the people.
“Our candidate Sanjay Velip is in social work for last many years and he has proved himself. I am confident that he will win this seat with thumping majority,” Altone D’Costa said.
He also lambasted on political opponents for humiliating Sanjay Velip over his simple life style.
“Our opponents have no right to target him over his lifestyle. He is simple man and working hard to make two ends meet for his family. He is not in into illegal business like Matka or Gambling, on which some have made assets even outside of the state,” Altone Dcosta sarcastically said.
