RGP Demands Unconditional Apology from Ajay Kholkar Over Alleged Remarks Against State President Shavina Naik Shirodkar
Panaji: The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) has strongly objected to alleged derogatory and disrespectful remarks made by former party treasurer and expelled member Ajay Kholkar against its State President, Shavina Naik Shirodkar. In a statement issued on November 2, RGP ZP member Trupti Bakal, along with women members and the entire party, condemned the alleged comments, stating that personal attacks and insulting language against women are unacceptable, irrespective of political differences.
Reiterating its commitment to women’s dignity, equality and participation in public life, the party maintained that criticism of political leadership should never cross the line into personal humiliation or disrespect. RGP called upon its members, supporters and well-wishers to collectively oppose such behaviour and stand up for the dignity of women in politics.
The party has issued a 12-hour deadline to Ajay Kholkar, demanding a public and unconditional apology for his alleged remarks. It also clarified that Kholkar, having been expelled from the organisation, has no authority to represent RGP or make statements on its behalf. The party further stated that any attempt to associate himself with RGP or use its name and identity while making such remarks would not be accepted.
Reaffirming its stand, RGP said that women’s dignity is non-negotiable and that no woman should face disrespect or personal attacks for choosing to lead or participate in political and public life.
