Panaji, 28th July 2025: Goa Forward Party MLA Vijai Sardesai raised serious concerns in the Assembly over the opaque implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Goa, questioning the government’s failure to provide measurable outcomes or clear direction.

Sardesai pointed out that the government claims academic success under NEP without any consolidated report comparing it to the previous system. “It seems the government issues the order, answers its questions, and then awards itself a distinction,” he remarked.

He further questioned the CM’s awareness of the ground reality, that in 3 of Goa’s 12 talukas, there are no grant-in-aid primary schools. “If the Chief Minister is aware of this, and the NEP leaves the choice of medium of instruction to the state, then why has he failed to ensure schools are established in those areas?” Sardesai asked.

He also demanded clarity on how many Konkani and Marathi medium schools have received grants and raised the issue of primary teachers being paid poorly, between ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, while support staff like drivers and peons draw higher salaries.

Raising the long-pending issue of Davorlim school complexes, Sardesai asked for an update on their relocation and stressed the need for concrete action. “It’s been three years of discussions; now is the time for decisions,” he urged, demanding that the Chief Minister finally act on his promises.
