Panaji: In a significant development following the ongoing unrest at Goa Medical College (GMC), Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has issued a heartfelt public apology to Dr. Rudresh Kuttikar for the harsh words expressed during a recent media interaction.

Acknowledging the tone of his remarks, Rane stated, “In the heat of the moment, my emotions overtook my expression, and I deeply regret the manner in which I addressed the situation. It was never my intention to undermine or disrespect the dignity of any medical professional.”

Emphasizing his deep respect for the medical fraternity, Rane added, “Doctors hold a sacred and noble position in our society. They work tirelessly to heal, comfort, and save lives. I have the highest regard for their invaluable contribution to our state.”

However, the Health Minister voiced grave concern over the disruption of services at GMC, stating that thousands of patients are being adversely affected. “The public is bearing the brunt of this situation. I urge all our doctors to reflect on the larger responsibility we share towards the welfare of our people,” he said.

He further expressed disappointment over the politicisation of the issue, saying, “This professional matter is now being turned into a political confrontation, which is unfortunate. We must not allow the sanctity of GMC and its service to the people to be diminished by external agendas.”

Appealing for reconciliation and a return to normalcy, Rane urged doctors to resume their duties with the same passion and dedication that defines their profession. “Disservice to the people of Goa, in any form, cannot be justified. Let us rise above this moment and reaffirm our shared commitment to public health.”

The Health Minister concluded by reaffirming his faith in Goa’s medical community, saying, “Goa looks up to its doctors with pride. Let us continue to live up to that trust.”
