Panaji: Goa Trinamool Congress leaders Trajano D’Mello, Pratibha Borkar, and Jayesh Shetgaonkar slammed the Special Investigating Team for failing to reveal the names of politicians involved in the land grab cases during a press conference at the party office in Panaji.
Questioning the integrity of the SIT, Goa TMC leader Trajano D’Mello asserted, ‘Why has the SIT failed to reveal the names of politicians?’ Highlighting the surreptitious nature of the investigation, he further added, ‘The SIT is being used as a stick by the CM to silence politicians and control the opposition party. We can see how the SIT is being used against politicians within the BJP party as well.’
Holding the BJP-led government accountable for failing to issue terms and references of the SIT, D’Mello said, ‘CM Sawant’s repeated failure to issue terms and references of the SIT explains how manipulative powers are turning the whole investigation mysterious.’ He further emphasized, ‘When the SIT was first declared, CM promised that members from different departments would be added. Where are those 22 members?’
Taking a dig at the Pramod Sawant-led government, he pointed out that the Har Ghar Jal Yojna has failed in Goa and remarked that to control the opposition, the BJP believes in ‘Har opposition ke Ghar pe SIT.’ Adding on, he pointed out, ‘The government is turning into land grabbers themselves.’
Reminding Goa TMC’s demand, D’Mello asserted, ‘We are the only party which has categorically demanded that a judge be appointed as the head of the SIT and that the Comunidade cases be transferred to the SIT. We also demanded that the seized files be transferred to the SIT. Does the SIT not cover the Comunidade frauds?’
Goa TMC reinstates its demand that the SIT must be headed by a judge.
