Keri, Sattari: Poriem MLA and Goa Forest Development Corporation Chairperson Dr. Deviya Rane inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several development projects collectively worth over ₹13.6 crore across Village Panchayat Keri and Village Panchayat Morlem on October 29, 2026.

The projects aim to improve basic infrastructure and public amenities in the constituency, with works covering temple beautification, educational facilities, community infrastructure, street lighting, road safety and electricity supply for a new water pumping station.

In Keri, the foundation stone was laid for the beautification and illumination of Shree Sateri Kelbai Devasthan at Ravan, at an estimated cost of ₹1.78 crore. The project includes an entrance arch, compound wall, paving, landscaping, gates, railings and external lighting.

A multipurpose community hall will also be constructed at Ravan at a cost of ₹46 lakh, providing additional space for public gatherings and community activities.

Focus has also been placed on improving educational infrastructure. Repair and renovation works at Government High School, Keri, were initiated at an estimated cost of ₹42 lakh. The works include renovation of toilets, wall tiling, replacement of wooden doors, installation of corridor grills and a new gate, along with painting and other necessary repairs.

Similarly, improvement works at Government Primary School, Keri, worth ₹36 lakh include compound wall repairs, plastering and painting, installation of pavers around the premises, flooring for two rooms and wall tiling in classrooms.

To improve visibility and safety after dark, the foundation stone was laid for four-arm streetlights at 20 locations across Keri, Ravan, Shiroli, Ghoteli and neighbouring areas. The project is estimated to cost ₹20 lakh. Repair work on the collapsed retaining wall at RMD Keri, costing ₹8 lakh, was also initiated.

In Village Panchayat Morlem, the foundation stone was laid for a shed near Shree Sateri Kelbai Temple at Deulwada, Ward No. IV, at an estimated cost of ₹8.52 lakh.

Street lighting facilities were also inaugurated at 14 locations across Pansulim, Kasarwada, Deulwada, Bagwada, Gimaywada, Gullem and Morlem. The project, costing ₹15 lakh, is expected to improve illumination in residential areas and around important community locations and temple premises.

One of the major infrastructure initiatives is the underground cabling project to provide electricity connectivity to the Water Resources Department’s pumping house at Bagwada, Morlem. Estimated at ₹11 crore, the project will facilitate a 33 KV power supply required for the proposed new pumping station. The infrastructure is expected to strengthen the power supply arrangements necessary for improving water supply facilities in the region.

The development works were undertaken in the presence of local panchayat representatives, community members and officials from the concerned government departments.

Dr. Deviya Rane reiterated her commitment to ensuring balanced development across the Poriem constituency, with particular emphasis on strengthening village-level infrastructure, upgrading educational facilities and addressing the requirements of local communities.

The projects are expected to benefit residents of Keri, Morlem and surrounding areas through improved public facilities, better street illumination, upgraded community infrastructure and strengthened essential services.
