Porvorim: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant chaired a comprehensive review meeting on key issues concerning the Health Department, in the presence of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Ministers Mauvin Gudinho, Digambar Kamat, Ramesh Tawadkar and Subhash Phaldesai, along with the Chief Secretary, Secretary (Health), Director of Health Services and senior government officials.
The meeting focused on strengthening healthcare delivery across the State, with special emphasis on critical care, emergency response and infrastructure upgradation. The government decided to initiate services aimed at enhancing critical care capacity and upgrading Emergency and Trauma Centres across Goa.
To address manpower shortages, the State will onboard Medical Officers, Casualty Medical Officers, additional nurses, MTS staff and technicians to improve emergency and routine healthcare services. Sub-District Hospitals will be strengthened by bridging existing gaps in manpower and infrastructure, while senior officials have been directed to conduct site visits to fast-track immediate infrastructure upgrades.
It was informed that the Sub-District Hospital at Sanguem will be inaugurated shortly, and a dialysis unit will be set up at the new facility. The government also decided to induct new ambulances into the healthcare system and provide office vehicles along with essential medical equipment to doctors.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant stated that the Government of Goa remains committed to providing accessible, efficient and quality healthcare to every citizen. He added that the focus will continue to be on upgrading health infrastructure, filling critical vacancies and improving emergency as well as specialised healthcare services across all districts of the State.
