AAP Goa Intensifies Statewide Campaign for Better Roads; Inspections in Saligao and Protests in Quepem Expose BJP’s Neglect

Panaji, October 28, 2025:
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa continued its statewide drive demanding proper roads across the state, holding ground activities in Saligao and Quepem to highlight what it termed as the BJP government’s continued neglect of basic infrastructure.

In Saligao, AAP Goa Vice President Chetan Kamat inspected the Saligao–Pilerne Industrial Estate Road, which has seen partial repairs following public pressure under the party’s #BJPCheBurak campaign.

“We started this campaign from this very road where people risked their lives daily. After one lakh Goans spoke up, the government was forced to act. But this partial repair is not enough. AAP demands full restoration of all roads in Saligao — not just cosmetic fixes before elections,” Kamat said.

He accused the BJP government of prioritising publicity events over public welfare.

“Be it Saligao or Quepem, AAP is on the ground fighting for Goans while BJP is busy doing events,” Kamat remarked, adding that AAP would continue its movement until every Goan has safe and motorable roads.

In Quepem, AAP leader Patricia Fernandes led a protest at the Chodwa Sawod–Kajuwada Road, where villagers have been waiting for a proper road for over six decades since Liberation.

“Even after 64 years, people here are still forced to walk through red mud. Pregnant women, students, and patients face immense hardship, and ambulances refuse to enter the village. This is BJP’s model of development,” said Fernandes.

She criticised the government for citing forest clearance issues as an excuse to delay development works.

“If the Forest Department can clear files for resorts and mega projects at lightning speed, they can surely prioritise a road connecting two villages. Forest laws are being used to punish villagers, not protect nature,” Fernandes asserted.

She demanded that the Forest Department immediately clear the file for road construction and that the PWD commence work within 30 days, with regular public updates on progress.

Both leaders said that AAP’s campaign for better roads is a people’s movement for accountability and action, not limited to protests but part of a larger state-wide effort covering every constituency — from North Goa’s Saligao to South Goa’s Quepem.

“BJP and Congress both ruled Goa and failed to provide even basic infrastructure. AAP is the only party walking with the people, not over them,” Kamat and Fernandes said in a joint statement.
