Panaji, Goa: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar has demanded that the Director General of Police publicly disclose the status of the investigation into the alleged Jobs-for-Cash scam, which has shaken the confidence of thousands of unemployed youth and their families across Goa.
“The people of Goa have a right to know what progress has been made in the investigation. How many people have been questioned? Who are the main accused? What evidence has been collected? Have any influential persons been protected? These are questions that cannot remain unanswered indefinitely,” Girish Chodankar stated.
He said that the Jobs-for-Cash scam is not merely a case of corruption but a direct assault on the aspirations of Goa’s youth. “Many families may have sacrificed their hard-earned savings in the hope of securing employment for their children. If allegations of money being collected in exchange for government jobs are true, then this is one of the most shameful betrayals of public trust in Goa’s history.”
Chodankar reminded the DGP that the credibility of the Goa Police is at stake. “As the senior-most police officer of the State, the DGP has a constitutional and moral responsibility to ensure that the investigation proceeds fearlessly and without political interference. The people of Goa expect professionalism, impartiality and transparency.”
“The Congress Party hopes that no pressure is being exerted on the investigating agencies to go slow, dilute evidence or shield politically connected individuals. Any attempt to suppress facts or protect the powerful will only deepen public suspicion that the BJP Government is more interested in saving its own than securing justice for the victims.”
Girish Chodankar warned that no politician, middleman or influential person should be treated as untouchable. “The law must apply equally to everyone. Goa’s youth deserve answers and justice. The investigation must reach its logical conclusion irrespective of whose name emerges.”
He further stated that governments come and go, but institutions must uphold the law. “Those who believe political power can permanently shield wrongdoing should remember that governments change. What cannot change is the people’s demand for accountability. The truth must come out, and every person involved in this scandal must be brought before the law.”
“The Congress Party will continue to stand with Goa’s youth and will relentlessly pursue this issue until the truth is fully exposed and justice is delivered,” Chodankar asserted.
