Panaji, September 28: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has launched a scathing attack on the BJP Government, accusing it of gross negligence and endangering the lives of Goans by failing to repair pothole-ridden roads in Porvorim and across the state.

Highlighting the issue, GPCC Media Chairman Amarnath Panjikar recalled that PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, during his recent visit to Porvorim constituency, had publicly assured that three jetpatcher machines would be deployed immediately to make the area pothole-free. He had also claimed that the BJP Government was committed to ensuring safe roads and preventing accidents.

“On the ground, the reality is completely different. Despite tall promises, the roads continue to remain full of dangerous potholes. Shockingly, even ambulances — meant to save lives — are unsafe on these killer roads. This is nothing short of criminal negligence by the BJP Government,” Panjikar said.

The Congress condemned what it described as the “irresponsible and insensitive approach” of the PWD Minister and the ruling BJP, alleging that public money was being wasted on propaganda instead of urgent road repairs. “Porvorim MLA and IT Minister Rohan Khaunte has miserably failed to give justice to his own constituency. The BJP Government is directly responsible for risking the lives of Goans,” Panjikar added.

The Congress further pointed out that the problem was not confined to Porvorim alone but was widespread across Goa. Panjikar drew attention to the irony that Digambar Kamat, during his tenure as Leader of the Opposition, had staged protests and taken selfies with potholes to highlight poor road conditions. “Today, as PWD Minister in the BJP Government, he has completely failed to act, exposing BJP’s double standards and betrayal of public trust,” he charged.

The Congress reiterated its demand for immediate road repairs and accountability from the concerned ministers, stressing that Goans deserve safe and motorable roads, not hollow assurances and cheap publicity stunts.
