Margao – The entrance of the Hospicio South Goa District Hospital in Margao has turned into a waterlogged disaster zone, following severe flooding caused by poor road planning and utter government neglect. Patients, doctors, and emergency services are being forced to wade through stagnant, filthy water just to enter a place meant for healing. This isn’t merely an inconvenience, it’s a public health hazard and a shameful reflection of the state’s infrastructure management, stated Madganvcho Awaaz & Youth Leader Prabhav Naik.

Local citizen group Madganvcho Awaaz and youth leader Prabhav Naik slammed the authorities for their inaction and demanded urgent accountability. “How can we speak of Viksit Goa when our hospitals turn into swamps every monsoon?” questioned Prabhav Naik. “This disgrace is the direct result of shoddy engineering and unmonitored works carried out without any vision or accountability”, he said.

The flooding not only disrupts healthcare access but endangers the lives of patients, especially the elderly, children, and emergency cases. Staff and ambulance drivers are grappling with daily chaos, putting both patient care and public safety at severe risk. Citizens are outraged that a basic civic issue like drainage remains unaddressed despite repeated complaints and warnings, said Prabhav Naik.

Madganvcho Awaaz & youth leader Prabhav Naik has called upon Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, who is visiting Goa, to personally visit the hospital site and witness the mess firsthand. “Mr. Gadkari must hold the responsible authorities accountable and direct immediate remedial measures,” Prabhav Naik stated.

We demand an immediate inspection of the road works, a comprehensive flood management plan around the hospital premises, and punitive action against those responsible for this civic failure. The people of Margao deserve better. Health and dignity must not drown in negligence, stated Prabhav Naik.
