The tragic and wholly preventable death of Chandru Gaonkar, a dedicated lineman from Morle, Sattari, is not just an unfortunate incident—it is a cold-blooded murder by negligence. His colleague Sarvesh Gaonkar now battles for his life, and we pray for his full recovery.
Let there be no doubt—the blood of these workers is on the hands of the BJP Government of Goa and its utterly dysfunctional Electricity Department.
Time and again, frontline workers are sent into dangerous situations without safety gear, without proper supervision, and without even the basic protocols that any decent government would enforce. Yet, the BJP turns a blind eye and continues to run the state like a private fiefdom—corrupt, arrogant, and utterly indifferent to the lives of common Goans.
This is not an accident.
This is systemic murder by a government that has no respect for human life.
How many more innocent lives must be lost before the BJP-led administration wakes up from its slumber of incompetence? For how long will our workers pay the price for this regime’s gross misgovernance?
While BJP ministers enjoy air-conditioned offices and PR photoshoots, our linemen are electrocuted and left to die without even a whisper of accountability.
The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) demands:
1. A high-level independent inquiry into this incident with criminal liability fixed on those responsible.
2. Immediate and adequate compensation to the families of the deceased and the injured.
3. Enforcement of strict safety protocols and provisioning of protective gear for all electricity department workers.
4. An audit of all departmental safety measures and holding the Power Minister personally accountable.
This government has failed its people. Goa is reeling under a regime of neglect, corruption, and impunity.
We will not allow the BJP to treat Goan lives as disposable. The Congress Party stands with every working man and woman who risks their life daily while the BJP shirks its basic responsibilities.
Enough is enough.
The people of Goa demand justice.
The people of Goa demand a government that cares, protects, and acts—not one that kills through neglect.
