Panaji – Habitual Liar Dr. Pramod Sawant now claims Mhadei Water Dispute Tribunal was formed during his term as Chief Minister of Goa. The reality is the Mhadei Water Dispute Tribunal was notified by then Congress Government under Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on 16th November 2010. Why the publicity hungry Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant stopped short from taking credit of approval given to DPR of Kalsa Bhandura Project to divert Mhadei Water and betrayal done by BJP Governments questioned Congress General Secretary Adv. Shriniwas Khalap.
Reacting to the statement made by the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant at an Award Function claiming that Mhadei Water is not diverted by Karnataka and all major policy decisions such as formation of Mhadei Water Dispute Tribunal was done during his tenure; Congress General Secretary Adv. Shriniwas Khalap charged that it is only after the BJP Government came to power in Goa in 2012 and at the Centre in 2014 that the Murder of our Lifeline Mother Mhadei happened.
It all started when the then Chief Minister of Goa Late Manohar Parrikar wrote a letter to BJP Leader of Karnataka B.S. Yedurappa on 21st December 2017 compromising on Goa’s interest on Mhadei. On 17th October 2019, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change gave Environmental Impact Assessment Clearance to Karnataka for Kalsa Bhandura Project. On 24th December 2019, then Union Minister Prakash Javadekar wrote to then Minster for Home Affairs of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai informing him that the EIA Notification is not kept in abeyance and Karnataka can start the Work of Kalsa Bhandura Project, pointed Adv. Shriniwas Khalap.
The above facts makes it loud and clear that “Murder of Mother Mhadei” was systematically planned and executed by the BJP Governments at the Centre, Karnataka and Goa for Political Gains. The Chief Minister also failed to speak on the speech given by Home Minister Amit Shah during his Election Campaign Meeting in Belgavi claiming that Mhadei Dispute is resolved with the approval of Chief Minister of Goa, stated Adv. Shriniwas Khalap.
Congress Party has always fought for Mhadei to our “Mhadei Jagor” Campaign. We protested in all the Talukas in Goa as well as at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against the betrayal of River Mhadei and Goans by the BJP Governments at Centre, Karnataka and Goa. We protested at Raj Bhavan, IFFI Inaugural Ceremony and various other occasions to save our Lifeline Mother Mhadei, said Adv. Shriniwas Khalap.
Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh met the All Party Delegation from Goa and listened to our request and constituted Mhadei Water Dispute Tribunal. Unfortunately, the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not find time in last nine years to meet the Goan Delegation on the Mhadei issue. These facts exposes that it is the BJP which is solely responsible for Murder of Mother Mhadei stated Adv. Shriniwas Khalap.
