Mapusa: In a significant development regarding the Colvale kidnapping case, local authorities have made another arrest, bringing the total number of accused persons in custody to three. The latest arrest follows the disturbing revelations made by the two minor victim girls, who disclosed that they had been subjected to sexual abuse by the accused individuals.

According to SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi, the statements of the young victims were recorded, detailing the harrowing experiences they endured. Acting swiftly upon this crucial information, the police apprehended Mr. Vikas Mukhiya, a 19-year-old resident of Bicholim with roots in Bihar. Presently, he remains in police custody pending further investigation.

As a result of the victims’ disclosures of sexual abuse, stringent sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have been added to the charges against the accused. This underscores the gravity of the crimes committed and ensures that the legal process is aligned with the sensitive nature of the offense.
