Mapusa: Revolutionary Goans Chief, Manoj Parab on Saturday hit out at the BJP-led government after being denied permission to hold an indoor active members meeting at Sanquelim. He alleged that the Deputy Collector and police were under pressure from the Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant to deny permission for the meeting which was scheduled to be held on Sunday. As a mark of protest over 500-odd RG members marched from Sanquelim to Bicholim police station in a single line maintaining all the required SOP’s. They also raised slogans as a mark of protest against the BJP government for its dictatorial rule.
“Our active members were supposed to meet and for this we had booked a hall. The owner of the venue asked us to get permission despite it being an indoor meeting us going to occupy 50% of the capacity. Deputy Collector and Police denied us permission stating that there was no police available for bandobast as most of them were busy with Congress and TMC meetings,” said Manoj.
“This dictatorial ruling party must take a note that the people of Goa are watching them as they continue to be intolerant to the democratic forces. As a mark of protest we walked from Sanquelim to Bicholim police station to seek answers on why we are denied permission every time,” he added.
While the RG President, Viresh Borkar pointed out every time they were denied permission for their meetings while BJP, AAP and TMC were having meetings at their own whims and fancies.
“We are fed up of this dictatorship and condemn this coward act of denying us permission to hold our meetings time and again. We walked over 120 kms from Pernem to Canacona as part of our coal revolt. We have not indulged in any form of violence and neither blockeded traffic on the road. Why is permission only for our meetings being denied? First at Mandkai and now at Sanqulim,” questions Borkar.
