Porvorim: Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte has said that the action of the government vis-à-vis upcoming no confidence motion on Soccoro Sarpanch Sandeep Vazarkar will indicate whether or not CM Pramod Sawant supports land grabbers and scamsters.
Khaunte pointed out that the panch members of Soccoro Panchayat have expressed their apprehensions that the meeting called to discuss no confidence motion against the Sarpanch may be sabotaged with the help of the Chief Minister.
“Socorro panchayat is a body from where few members had shifted over to BJP. Last three years, the panchayat had lost out on development. Sarpanch Sandeep Vazarkar and his group, what they did in last three years, using umbrella of chief minister and BJP government, is well known. Forgery sale deeds, land scams were regular affairs,” Khaunte alleged.
He said when panch members have moved no confidence on Vazarkar, the government should behave in the same way, how they do it otherwise.
“Everyone has seen how BJP government interfered and intervened in Siridao Pale panchayat. The panch members had to approach the High Court seeking directions to the government,” he recalled.
Khaunte pointed out that when Salvador do Mundo panchayat backed by BJP had members moving no confidence motion, the entire process was over in 8 to 10 days and even new Sarpanch was inducted.
“But when Soccoro panchayat has given no confidence against BJP supported person, the gap between the motion and the meeting to discuss it is 13 days,” he stated.
Khaunte said that the panch members have apprehensions that there may be mischief played on October 05 when it will be taken up for discussion. “That is why they have asked Chief minister not to interfere in the matter. There is government’s interference everywhere, including that of CM. Democracy is at peril.”
The Porvorim MLA said that only three months are left for the tenure of this government to end. “The Government should understand that they should not be involved in such deeds. If there is any mischief, we will give whatever support the panch members including the legal help.”
“If CM intervenes than only there would be mischief. The days to come will show how much Pramod Sawant is hell bent to support criminal and land mafia or he is the partner in the landscams.”
