Panaji: In a shocking case of child abuse and murder, the Bicholim Police have arrested a woman and her live-in partner for the brutal killing of a 2-year-and-7-month-old girl at Maulinguem, Bicholim, Goa. The case has exposed a disturbing pattern of prolonged violence against the minor victim.

Following a thorough inquiry into Bicholim Police Station Unnatural Death (UD) No. 45/2025 and after examining autopsy report No. 868/2025, investigators concluded that the accused — Mrs. Nagamma (28 years) and her boyfriend Mr. Nithin Kumara — had been assaulting the child over a period of time. On October 15, 2025, before 5:05 PM, the two allegedly smothered the child to death.

According to the police report, the accused, who were in a live-in relationship, developed resentment towards the child because she was the daughter of Nagamma’s first husband. This deep-seated dislike reportedly led to repeated physical abuse and ultimately, the heinous act of murder.

The case was registered based on a state complaint filed by PSI Vikesh Hadfadkar of Bicholim Police Station. The accused have been booked under Section 103 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003.

Following the registration of the case, wireless alerts were sent to PCR Panaji and Porvorim, and an express report has been submitted to the concerned authorities. The police, along with a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, have visited the crime scene for further examination and evidence collection.

Police sources described the case as “deeply disturbing,” underscoring the brutality inflicted upon the innocent child. Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the abuse and to ensure justice for the victim.
