Casinos resumed in the state from Monday onwards

Panaji: Goa government on Saturday announced to restart Casinos in the state from coming Monday onwards with the rider that they should adhere to strict COVID-19 protocols.

State Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired the Task Force Committee meeting which came up with several recommendations and also relaxations considering the low COVID-19 positivity rate in the state.

Speaking to reporters, Sawant said that the Task Force reviewed the positivity rate in the state for last two weeks, which is below two percent. “Looking at the positivity rate, it was decided that the state should start the economic activities, specially related to the tourism,” he commented.

The chief minister said that Casinos will start in the state from coming Monday with 50 per cent capacity and strict protocols. Those who are fully vaccinated or the one carrying RTPCR certificate claiming that he is coronavirus negative will be allowed to enter the casinos, he said.

The state has also decided to allow Spas, Massage Parlours, River Cruises and similar activities while the ban on EDMs and also Night Clubs will continue.

As far as decision on restarting the schools, Sawant said that the Expert Committee constituted by the state government will take a call on it.
