MADGANVCHO AWAAZ WRITES TO CHIEF MINISTER DEMANDING SCRAPPING OF MMC RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Margao: Madganvcho Awaaz has today written to the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant demanding the immediate scrapping of the recruitment process initiated by the Margao Municipal Council (MMC), stating that the process is riddled with serious irregularities, lack of transparency, and questionable decision-making, which have completely eroded public confidence. Youth Leader Prabhav Naik said continuing with such a flawed recruitment would cause grave injustice to the educated youths.

In his letter to the Chief Minister, Prabhav Naik recalled that he had earlier written on 8th November 2024 demanding the scrapping of the recruitment process, issuance of an ordinance to bring all self-governing bodies under the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), and the appointment of a high-level committee to inquire into MMC recruitments, promotions, and regularisation of contractual staff. He also recalled sealing an envelope in front of the media by him containing names of candidates allegedly expected to be selected through favouritism, which will be opened after the final results.

Naik pointed out a major anomaly revealed by official figures, wherein the seat numbers allotted for the written examination exceeded the total number of valid applications received. He stated that such an inexplicable discrepancy raises serious doubts about manipulation and renders the entire recruitment process highly suspect.

He further highlighted to the Chief Minister that out of more than 700 candidates who appeared for the written examination, only 34 candidates have been shortlisted for the skill test. This abnormal elimination, he said, not only questions the credibility of the evaluation process but also exposes the alarming state of the education system in Goa.

Prabhav Naik stated that Madganvcho Awaaz has been opposing this recruitment process from the very beginning, ever since MMC advertised 11 posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC), one post of Mason, and one post of Site Supervisor. He reiterated his demand that all such recruitments must be conducted strictly through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to ensure transparency, uniformity, and merit-based selection.

Referring to the Chief Minister’s public statement made during the inauguration of the SSC office, Naik said it was clearly stated that all government recruitments would be conducted under the SSC as per the policy decision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. By proceeding independently with the recruitment, the MMC has defied the Chief Minister’s stated stand and the broader policy direction of the Government of India. Madganvcho Awaaz, he asserted, will continue to pursue all democratic and legal avenues to safeguard the interests of Margao’s youth and uphold fairness, transparency, and accountability.
