Panaji: Goa Trinamool Congress today launched a high decibel attack against the Revolutionary Goans party for breaking ranks with united opposition against the Mhadei river diversion. Goa TMC Joint Convenor Samil Volvaiker, Goa TMC IT Coordinator Tanoj Adwalpalkar, and Goa TMC ST/SC Coordinator Santosh Mandrekar demanded RGP president Manoj Parab support the people’s movement and come together to save Goa’s mother, Mhadei, during a press conference at the party office in Panaji.

Launching a scathing attack against the RGP party supremo Manoj Parab for playing “divide and rule’ policy, Goa TMC Joint Convenor Samil Volvaiker said, ‘Revolutionary Goans Party is breaking the united voice of Goans on the Mhadei issue. At a time when a united opposition must fight the ruling dispensation, their actions are dividing and diluting the people’s movement, which is trying to safeguard our mother, – Mhadei River. He further added, ‘Manoj Parab’s actions confirm that RGP is the B team of BJP government.’

Lambasting Manoj Parab led-RGP for dishonoring the people’s movement, Volvaiker said, ‘If we want to win the Mhadei battle, we must put our differences aside and come together. The Mhadei issue can’t be taken up by a single party; we must work together to fight for the rights of Goenkars.’ Adding on, he said, ‘If Manoj Parab can’t join forces to save our mother, what will he do for Goa? The RGP is only using the Mhadei movement to further its own political goals. Their dirty politics only reinforces that RGP is conniving with BJP.’

Condemning RGP’s St. Andre MLA Viresh Borkar’s recent comments, Volvaiker said, ‘I strongly condemn his recent statement. RGP is the only party that has highlighted Jharkhand’s water dispute and tried to criticize the TMC. He is trying to confuse people with such comments. RGP is portraying itself as solely fighting for Mhadei while the rest of Goa is sleeping,” he added. ‘They must realize that we stand united to protect our riversReiterating the party’s commitment to the people of Goa, Volvaiker highlighted, ‘We are committed in our resolve to ensure that our rights are not violated, we are the only party that protested against the clearance given to Karnataka’s DPR and later submitted a memorandum to the Hon’ble Governor of Goa to intervene’ Adding on, he said, ‘I appeal to Manoj Parab to join the opposition forces and unitedly fight to save our mother Mhadei.’
