Panaji: In a proactive effort to prevent property-related crimes and enhance public safety, the North Goa District Police have completed verification of 105 scrapyard owners and 221 scrap collectors operating across the district.
According to North Goa SP Rahul Gupta, the verification drive was conducted after investigations in several past cases revealed the involvement or connivance of certain scrapyard owners and kabadiwalas in the disposal of stolen materials. These scrapyards often serve as convergence points for stolen goods, indirectly enabling criminal activities.
Police also noted that many scrapyards employ a significant number of migrant workers, making continuous monitoring essential to ensure compliance and safety.
Authorities have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to their nearest police station or by calling 112.
