Porvorim: The Goa Legislative Assembly Complex is set to mark its Silver Jubilee with a series of programmes from October 6 to 9, 2026. Assembly Speaker Dr Ganesh Gaonkar addressed the media at the Assembly Complex in Porvorim and shared details of the celebrations.
The four-day programme will highlight the history and evolution of Goa’s legislative institution, including the transition from the old Secretariat to the present Goa Assembly Complex.
As part of the celebrations, an exhibition will showcase rare and previously unseen photographs documenting the journey of the Assembly and the development of the present complex. A short film highlighting this journey will also be screened during the celebrations.
A photography competition organised as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations has received around 75 entries, providing participants an opportunity to capture and showcase different aspects of the Assembly Complex and its surroundings.
A special postal stamp commemorating the Silver Jubilee and a coffee table book documenting the history and journey of the Goa Legislative Assembly Complex will be released on October 6 at 4 PM.
The release programme will be held in the presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Goa Governor Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
The celebrations are aimed at commemorating 25 years of the Goa Assembly Complex while highlighting its history, heritage and role in the functioning of the state’s legislative institution.
Goa Legislative Assembly Secretary Namrata Ulman and Joint Secretary Mohan Gaonkar were also present during the media briefing.
