Panaji: Goa Bench of Bombay High Court on Monday adjourned the hearing on Goa government’s appeal against Tehelka Founder Tarun Tejpal’s acquittal in a 2013 rape case for October 27 for conducting the virtual hearing in the case.
High Court bench comprising Justices M S Sonak and M S Jawalkar adjourned the case for October 27 after Advocate General Devidas Pangam and a lawyer representing Tejpal asked for the next date.
Justice Sonak said that the court will set up facility for virtual hearing in the case by next date.
The hearing in the case would be held virtually as Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta representing the state will participate from Delhi.
Advocate Pangam said that the hearing was held today to decide about the next date.
On August 31, 2021, the Court had adjourned the hearing on September 20.
Till then (August 31) now, the matter was being heard online. The matter was first heard physically on that date.
Earlier last month, Tejpal in a submission before the HC sought an ‘in-camera hearing’ of the Goa government’s petition challenging his acquittal in the case and sought its dismissal while raising preliminary objections on its maintainability.
However, Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Goa government, had at that time opposed Tejpal’s request for the ‘in-camera hear
