Panaji – Suspension of Bicholim Sub-Registrar over Vedanta Mining Lease Registration and subsequent warning given to Mayem Residents of demolishing their Houses appear to be the act of “Chief Manager of Vedanta” and not the Chief Minister of Goa. Anti-poor and Pro-rich Agenda of the BJP once again stands exposed, charged Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Reacting to the Decision of the Government to suspend the Sub-Registrar of Bicholim over the alleged delay in registering the Mining Lease, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao demanded that the Law Department should clarify if such delay has happened for the first time and whether similar Suspensions were done in the past over delay in Registration of Deeds of Common People.
I demand that the Government must place in Public Domain the Facts & Figures pertaining to the Registration of the Mining Lease Deed and whether the particular Sub-Registrar had raised any queries and sought advice from the Government. The action of the Government prima-facie reveals special treatment to the Rich Crony Capitalists. Why Government has far not acted to recover the outstanding dues running into multiple crores from M/s Vedanta towards Rural Welfare Cess, Green Cess and Mining Dues, questioned Yuri Alemao.
I am shocked to hear about the Warning issued to the Residents of Mayem by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant of demolishing their Houses. I hope this is not the beginning of Plan of the BJP Government to shift the religious places like Temple of Devi Lairai and others which are already included in the Lease Area of the Mining Block auctioned to M/s Vedanta and hand over the entire Mayem Village to the Crony Capitalists, said Yuri Alemao.
What made the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to wake up now after almost 10 years and threaten the Residents of Mayem to demolish their Houses built after 2014? On the same day, the Sub-registrar is suspended over Vedanta deal. There is lot to be understood from both the actions, stated Yuri Alemao.
Common People face hardships to seek an appointment with the Sub-Registrars to register the Sale Deeds or Agreements of buying or selling a small house. Surprisingly, BJP Government which swung into action for Vedanta and suspended the Sub-registrar never bothered to address the concerns of the common people and solve the difficulties faced by them at the Sub-registrar’s Office, Yuri Alemao said.
I will take up the issue in the upcoming Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, informed Yuri Alemao.
