Margao – After my Complaint dated 20th October 2023 and my subsequent meeting with South Goa Collector on 20th November 2023, Deputy Collector and SDO-II finally issued Order on 21st November 2023 directing Global Ispaat Limited, Cuncolim to remove the entire Structure cum Shed in Survey Number 303/3 and restore the Land to its original condition. This Order once again exposes the Illegalities in Cuncolim Industrial Estate, stated Cuncolim MLA and Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Reacting to the Order No. LRC/Illegal-Conv/37/2023/2626 dated 21/11/2023 issued by Deputy Collector and SDO-II, Salcete, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has reiterated his commitment to put a permanent end to the Pollution and Illegalities in Cuncolim Industrial Estate.
It has come to the fore that Global Ispaat Limited has made use of the Agricultural Land in Survey No. 303/3 of Village Cuncolim for Non-agricultural Purpose and failed to produce any Documents or Permissions for Conversion of Land under Section 32 of Land Revenue Code, 1968. They also failed to follow the directions given by the Authorities to remove the material lying on Site. This shows the adamancy and arrogance of Global Ispaat Limited, pointed Yuri Alemao.
Air, Water Pollution and Illegalities in Cuncolim Industrial Estate causing a serious Health Hazard as well as Loss to the State Revenue has always been a matter of concern for me. I had raised the issue consistently in all the five sessions of the Goa Legislative Assembly. I am happy that the Authorities have started acting against the Violators, stated Yuri Alemao.
I have also taken up the issue of Pollution with Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB). I hope that stringent measures shall be taken to curb the Pollution caused by various Units in Cuncolim Industrial Estate. GSPCB must monitor the activities in Cuncolim Industrial Estate round the clock, demanded Yuri Alemao.
I had demanded for formation of Nodal Agency to coordinate with various Departments to monitor the activities in Cuncolim Industrial Estate and control Pollution, Illegalities, Irregularities and Accidents. I hope the Government will act soon, failing which Law and Order situation may arise, warned Yuri Alemao.
