Margao – Sad state of affairs under BJP Government under Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant once again come to the fore with another Governor in Office raising concerns on administrative failures. After Ex-Governor Satya Pal Malik openly spoke on Corruption, now Governor P. S. Sreedharan Pillai raises doubts on Happiness Index of Goa, stated Leader of Oppositon Yuri Alemao.

Reacting to Governor of Goa P. S. Sreedharan Pillai choosing not to speak on Happiness Index of Goa, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao blamed successive BJP Governments for ignoring important Study Reports which would have helped in reviving economy & administration in the State.

A Committee under then Chief Secretary Sanjay Shrivastav was constituted by Congress Government in 2010 to draft Manpower Development Report which was prepared with the help from the Planning Commission of India. Sadly, BJP Governments which came to power in 2012 shelved the Report instead of implementing it, charged Yuri Alemao.

I once again urge the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to implement the recommendations of Goa Vision 2035 Document prepared by Experts under eminent Scientist Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar & also work on implementation of Manpower Development Report prepared by Congress Government to bring Smile on the face of every Goans, said Yuri Alemao.

It is time to take stock of what we have gained and what we can gain further; what issues are haunting the State and what path the State should take in the future. Government needs to be sensitive towards aspirations, emotions and sentiments of the People, Yuri Alemao said.

Goa should develop itself as a Knowledge Centre to create employment opportunities for its youths and keep them from migrating outside the State. More than Materialistic Development, focus should be on Spiritual Development which will help in keeping the Happiness Index high which in turn will show prosperity of the State, claimed Yuri Alemao.
