CONGRESS FILES COMPLAINT ON DERELICTION OF DUTY DURING MARGAO CARNIVAL

Margao – Goa Pradesh Congress Committee today filed a Written Complaint before South Goa Collector on Dereliction of Duty by Government Authorities endangering the lives of people including children during Margao Carnival Parade on Sunday 11th February 2024.

Congress General Secretary Moreno Rebello along with Treasurer Orville Dourado and Olencio Simoes handed over the complaint to Srinet Kothwale, Additional Collector of South Goa bringing to his notice the incident of People including Children who were found dangerously sitting on the partly collapsed Wall next to Old Hospicio Hospital, Margao to watch the Carnival Parade organised by Government of Goa in association with Tourism Department, Margao Municipal Council and others.

There are various videos on Social Media which clearly show Chidlren and People dangerously sitting on a Wall which is almost 15 to 20 feet high from the ground level. A fall from such a height could have turned fatal, Congress Party mentioned in the complaint letter.

Congress Party has already uplaoded a Video clearly showing Children and others sitting on the partly collapsed Wall on its Social Media Platforms demanding action from the South Goa Collector, Director General of Police and Superitendant of Police of South Goa, letterr further stated.

We are submitting this Official Complaint before you to take stringent action against all those responsible for putting the lives of the People; especially Children in danger. This act is of negligence and Dereliction of Duty by Officials of Tourism Department, Margao Municipality, Goa Police as well as District Collectorate and other associate Departments, pointed Moreno Rebello in his complaint letter.

We hope the Organisers had taken prior Permissions from you for organising the said Parade . You are requested to provide us with copies of all the permissions given for Carnival Parade 2024 in Margao along with Terms and Conditions put on the Organisers to follow during the Carnival Parade.

We request you to take serious note of the above incident and immediately act taking cognizance of our complaint and provide us with an Action taken Report within 15 days, failing which we will be compelled to approach appropriate forums, Moreno Rebello has stated in his complaint letter submitted on behalf of Congress Party.
