Margao: The Chakchakit Margao Mission of Madganvcho Awaaz continued at Colmorod, Margao, with volunteers clearing overgrown shrubs and bushes to improve cleanliness, visibility, and the overall appearance of the locality. The initiative forms part of the organisation’s ongoing efforts to make Margao cleaner, safer, and more citizen-friendly.
Youth Leader Prabhav Naik said that the mission is driven solely by a commitment to public service and civic responsibility. “Step by step, we are working towards a cleaner, safer, and more beautiful Margao. Small efforts today can make a big difference to our city tomorrow. We only hope that such public service initiatives are not subjected to harassment under political pressure,” he said.
Naik recalled that during a similar cleanliness drive undertaken by Madganvcho Awaaz in Malbhat, a police complaint was filed against the truck driver who had transported the collected waste. The complaint was lodged by the Chief Officer of the Margao Municipal Council despite the fact that the activity was intended to address a long-pending civic issue and improve public cleanliness.
Describing the action as selective targeting, Naik questioned why Madganvcho Awaaz was singled out for undertaking voluntary civic work. He pointed out that after Madganvcho Awaaz began organising such cleanliness drives, others also started similar activities, yet there appeared to be a different approach in the treatment of such initiatives.
“The people of Margao can easily distinguish between genuine commitment and activities carried out merely for publicity. Madganvcho Awaaz has consistently worked on civic issues, cleanliness, public grievances, heritage, culture, and development matters with sincerity and persistence,” he said.
Naik reiterated that Madganvcho Awaaz remains committed to serving the people of Margao. “We are not interested in one-day events or temporary publicity. We will continue to take up every issue and every mission to its logical conclusion in the interest of the people of Margao. No amount of selective targeting or harassment will deter us from working for the city,” he stated.
