BJP and Goa CM Pramod Sawant must apologize to Goans for lying and bluffing on the Mhadei issue – Clyde Crasto, National Spokesperson, NCP

Panaji: Union home minister Mr. Amit Shah said that the over three-decade Mhadei water sharing issue between Karnataka and Goa was “resolved” by his party to allow diversion of water to Karnataka with the help of the ‘Goa Government’.

But the Goa government has repeatedly denied any direct involvement in the issue and they even passed a resolution in Goa assembly after which chief minister Pramod Sawant took a government delegation to meet Mr. Shah seeking his intervention in resolving the issue and asking the Centre to withdraw the approval granted to Karnataka for the Mhadei water diversion.

BJP Goa, on their part, told Goans that they will start a signature campaign to ask the central government to withdraw the same.

Mr. Amit Shah’s statement on the Mhadei issue proves that the BJP was lying and bluffing and the meeting with him by the delegation of Goa government was a farce. Therefore, BJP and CM Pramod Sawant must apologize to Goans and accept that they indeed were consulted for the Mhadei water diversion issue.
