Assault and Robbery Case Registered in Mandrem; Two Unnatural Deaths Reported in Pernem and Sanvordem

The Goa Police have registered a series of cases across the state between 17:00 hours on August 27, 2024, and 17:00 hours on August 28, 2024.

In North Goa, Mandrem Police registered Crime No. 52/2024 under Sections 118(1), 134, 126(2) read with 3(5) of the BNS Act. The case was based on a complaint filed by Chetan Yadav, a 38-year-old resident of Pitampura, Delhi. According to the complaint, on August 22, 2024, around 1:30 AM, Yadav was assaulted by three individuals—Bharat Singh Saud (26), Sachin Pandey (27), and Yogesh Singh (24)—near Tomatos Restaurant in Morjim, Pernem. The accused allegedly attacked Yadav with fists, blows, and a hard object, causing bodily injuries, and also snatched a gold chain weighing approximately 130 grams and a silver bracelet. The police have arrested all three accused as of 15:45 hours on August 28, 2024.

In addition, two cases of unnatural death have been reported. Pernem Police registered UD No. 14/2024 after 32-year-old Suraj Kajale was found to have committed suicide by hanging at his residence in Nanerwada, Pernem. Following a local tip-off, police conducted a scene examination and inquest, and no foul play is suspected.

Meanwhile, in South Goa, Curchorem Police registered UD No. 17/2024 concerning the accidental death of Pritesh Puranik, a 28-year-old resident of Sanvordem. Puranik accidentally slipped and fell into the flowing water at the Ganesh Visarjan point in Ambeudak, Sanvordem. Despite efforts to rescue him, he sustained fatal head and body injuries, and no foul play is suspected.

The bodies in both unnatural death cases have been sent to the morgue at GMC Bambolim for further investigation.
