Panaji: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa on Friday announced its second list of candidates for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections, taking the total number of declared candidates to 22 out of 50. The party said the early declaration reflects its preparedness and determination to take on the BJP in the local body polls.
The newly announced candidates include:
- Anjuna – Pujan Malvankar
- Calangute – Carol Fernandes
- Penha De Franca – Arvind Tendulkar
- St. Lawrence – Ujjwala Naik
- Querim – Avinash Jadhav
- Veling Priol – Sarita Panjikar
- Curtorim – Clena Fernandes
- Guirdolim – Joseph Pixote
AAP State President Adv. Amit Palekar said the party is introducing “fresh faces who genuinely want to serve Goa,” adding that the candidates are accessible, grounded and focused on resolving grassroots issues.
Working President and National Spokesperson Valmiki Naik stated that the selection process prioritised long-time volunteers. “These tickets have been given to people who have stood with AAP and worked for Goa, not to parachute candidates,” he said.
AAP Working President Gerson Gomes highlighted the diverse backgrounds of the candidates — ranging from social work and education to business and community service. He said each of them has contributed to the party’s outreach and public service initiatives.
Reiterating its commitment to a people-first election approach, AAP said it will focus on healthcare, transparency, corruption-free governance, youth welfare and village-level development. The party appealed to Goans for their support as it enters the next phase of its ZP campaign.
