Cuncolim: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of key infrastructure and public welfare projects in Cuncolim, marking a significant push for development in the constituency.
Among the highlights was the inauguration of a newly constructed futsal ground at Madicotto, aimed at promoting sports and recreational activities among local youth. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Urban Ayushman Aarogya Mandir (UAAM) Wellness Centre in Cuncolim, which is expected to enhance healthcare access by providing OPD services and various diagnostic facilities to residents.
Cuncolim MLA and Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, along with Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa and other dignitaries, were present during the events.
In addition, the Chief Minister and LoP Alemao paid tribute to the Cuncolim Chieftains at the memorial site. The visit coincided with the laying of the foundation stone for the renovation of the Chieftains Memorial Park. Goa Freedom Fighters Association President Rohidas “Daad” Dessai and Cuncolim Chieftain Memorial Trust President Oscar Martins were also present on the occasion.
As part of the broader development initiative, a total of seven projects were launched in the constituency. These include the construction of a 15-bedded Urban Primary Health Centre, renovation of the Chieftains Memorial Park, construction of Panchayat Ghars at Guirdolim and Paroda, and underground cabling works in Chandor and Guirdolim.
The initiatives aim to boost healthcare infrastructure, preserve heritage, and improve civic amenities, reflecting the government’s focus on holistic development in Cuncolim.
