WHAT STOPS RAVINDRA BHAVAN, MARGAO TO START MUSIC, DANCE & THEATRE CLASSES? – CAPT. VIRIATO FERNANDES

Margao – Ravindra Bhavan, Margao has announced Inauguration of Film Club on Sunday 30th June 2024. What about much needed Music, Dance & Theatre Classes at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao? Is there conflict of interest? Are attempts being made to safeguard interest of any Private Institution? questioned South Goa Member of Parliament Capt. Viriato Fernandes.

Reacting to the annoucement made by Ravindra Bhavan on starting Film Club, South Goa MP Capt. Viriato Fernandes has urged that Ravindra Bhavan should first focus on setting their own house in order and stop interfering in activities of other departments.

I appeal to the Government to take immediate steps to start the Regular Music, Dance and Theatre Classes at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. Our Zilla Panchayat Member Michelle Rebelo had raised this demand in the past. Sadly, Ravindra Bhavan did not take any steps, said Capt. Viriato Fernandes.

Ravindra Bhavan, Margao is Cultural Centre for entire Salcete Taluka. There is demand for starting regular Music, Dance and Theatre training classes. Surprisingly, Ravindra Bhavan Committee is doing everything else but not taking steps to start the classes, pointed Capt. Viriato Fernandes.

Government has declared Entertainment Society of Goa as nodal agency for all film related activities. It is ESG’s duty to take care of film clubs and film related activities. Ravindra Bhavan must focus on promoting Art & Culture by providing training to Children and Youths in performing arts, stated Capt. Viriato Fernandes.

I hope Art & Culture Minister Govind Gaude will take note of my demand and instruct concerned officials to start the classes immediately. Government should not allow any person having conflict of interest and who promotes Private Institution to be on Managing Committee of Ravindra Bhavan, said Capt. Viriato Fernandes.
