Panaji: Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai and Revolutionary Goans Party President Manoj Parab have jointly welcomed Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant’s announcement to compensate paddy farmers under the Shetkari Aadhar Nidhi scheme.
In a joint statement, the two leaders said the government’s move came only after their persistent demand to provide relief to farmers whose fields were devastated by unseasonal rains. “This is not a favour, but the rightful due of Goan farmers who suffered heavy losses,” they said, pointing out that while farmers struggled in distress, the government was busy with public events and political schemes.
Sardesai and Parab reminded that they had earlier demanded the introduction of a ‘Majhe Xett’ scheme to safeguard the interests of local farmers. They called the Chief Minister’s announcement “a positive first step,” but stressed that what matters most now is quick and transparent implementation.
They urged the government to ensure that compensation reaches farmers without harassment, bureaucratic hurdles, or discrimination.
“Goa’s farmers feed Goa. They deserve respect, support, and protection—not neglect,” the joint statement concluded, reaffirming their commitment to stand united for the welfare of Goa, Goans, and Goan livelihoods.
