Vedanta Iron And Steel Limited Promotes Sustainable Living Through Month-Long Sustainability Drive
Panaji: Vedanta Iron And Steel Limited (VISL), a leading producer of iron and steel with operations across India and Africa, reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable and responsible growth through a series of initiatives conducted as part of its Sustainability Month. Centred on the theme ‘People, Planet and Progress’, the campaign brought together employees, business partners and communities to promote environmental stewardship, responsible consumption and collective action towards a more sustainable future.
The month-long engagement reflected VISL’s belief that sustainability is integral to responsible growth, operational excellence and long-term value creation. Through initiatives spanning environmental conservation, circularity, responsible consumption and employee engagement, the company reinforced its commitment to embedding sustainable practices into everyday operations while fostering a culture of shared responsibility across its business ecosystem.
Mr. Pankaj Kumar Sharma, CEO & Whole-Time Director, Vedanta Iron And Steel Limited, said: “Sustainability is not a standalone initiative but a core business imperative that shapes how we create value and drive responsible growth. At VISL, our focus is on integrating sustainable practices into our operations, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and creating lasting impact for the communities we serve. Sustainability Month is a reminder that meaningful progress is achieved when individuals and organisations come together with a shared commitment towards protecting our planet and strengthening the future.”
Across VISL’s operations in Goa, Odisha, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Karnataka, employees and business partners came together for cleanliness drives, plantation activities, sustainability awareness campaigns and housekeeping staff recognition programmes. The campaign further advanced circularity and responsible consumption through cloth collection drives, DIY upcycling workshops, repurposed product showcases, sustainability engagements and interactions with sustainability-focused organisations, while promoting reusable alternatives to single-use plastics.
Sustainability-focused partnerships also played an important role in the campaign, bringing practical insights on circularity and mindful consumption to employees: “Sustainability begins when we rethink the way we consume, reuse and dispose of things. Through our association with Vedanta Iron And Steel Ltd., as part of the ‘Sustainability Month’, Carnival, we were delighted to partner with the Company on sustainable best practices. Such initiatives help make sustainability more accessible and encourage people to adopt mindful practices in their daily lives.” Trupti Poduval, SKRAP Team
By bringing together employees, partners and communities through a common purpose, VISL’s Sustainability Month reinforced the belief that lasting progress is built on collective action. The initiatives reflect the company’s continued efforts to integrate sustainability into its business practices while creating long-term value for people, the planet and future generations.
