Panaji, May 16 — A tragic incident occurred at Miramar Beach in Goa where a 35-year-old tourist from Kerala, identified as Akhil Vijayan, lost his life after being struck by lightning.
Akhil Vijayan, a resident of Ernakulam, Kerala, was at the beach with his wife and friends when the incident happened on Tuesday night. The sudden lightning strike caused Akhil, his wife, and one of their friends to fall. Akhil was rendered unconscious and stopped responding. He was immediately taken to Goa Medical College in Bambolim, which is seven kilometers from the beach, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The post-mortem examination confirmed that the cause of death was ‘electrocution.’
Miramar Beach, located three kilometers from Goa’s capital, Panaji, is a popular spot frequented by both tourists and locals. Goa, a renowned tourist destination, attracts nearly eight million visitors each year.
