Panjim, 24th November 2024 – The fourth day of the Tech Media Startup Expo 2024 organised by the Startup & IT Promotion Cell of the Department of IT, Electronics & Communications at Fortune Miramar turned the spotlight on blockchain technology and artificial intelligence (AI), exploring their disruptive potential in media funding, rights management, content creation, and audience engagement. Under the theme “Block by Block – The Media Evolution,” the day delivered a forward-thinking approach to how creators and innovators can harness these technologies.

Opening the day, Jervis Pereira, Founder & CEO of IBA, delivered a keynote titled “Launching Your Media Project with Blockchain: A Beginner’s Guide.” Jervis emphasized the critical role of blockchain in ensuring transparency, ownership, and fraud prevention within the media industry. He explained, “The role of AI is becoming indispensable in areas like deepfake detection and the automation of video and content creation from original creators. Blockchain complements this by providing the much-needed transparency and ownership to fight fraud and streamline operations.”

Jervis highlighted forward-thinking platforms already pioneering these technologies, including Fluree for secure data sharing, DeepBrain for AI-driven media creation, Truepic for combating misinformation, Audius for content monetization, and LBRY for content distribution. These innovations are enabling creators to control their work, streamline processes, and engage audiences more effectively.

The Fireside Chat, “Blockchain and Intellectual Property: Protecting Creators in the Digital Age,” moderated by Sharad Patel, Founder, Chairman & MD of SP Cinecorp, and Joydeep Biswas, CEO of Rocked Films, took a deeper dive into practical applications. Panelists emphasized how blockchain should be used to aid creative processes, not replace them, and highlighted its role in supporting creators rather than overshadowing their work. Joydeep noted, “Blockchain is not just a tool for innovation; it’s a way to build trust in the authenticity of content and processes in the industry. It’s about enabling creators to thrive in an ecosystem that values their originality.” The discussion further explored how AI and blockchain together foster a collaborative framework to streamline operations while empowering artists and businesses alike.

The day ended on a lighter note with the quiz session, “Around the Filmy Duniya in 15 Secs,” hosted by Joydeep Biswas. This interactive and energetic segment added a fun twist to the day’s thought-provoking conversations.

Furthermore, Tech Media at Film Bazaar showcased a dynamic blend of international and state-level stalls, drawing participants from around the world. The event buzzed with engaging interactions between visitors, foreign delegates, and stall representatives, underscoring its expanding global prominence and facilitating meaningful exchanges that highlight the platform’s international reach and significance.
