Pernem: In a significant development, the Pernem Police have successfully apprehended a suspect in connection with the theft case reported on 28th May 2023 at Morjim beach. The incident involved a group of tourists who had their bag stolen while enjoying the sea. The stolen bag contained valuable items including an iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 12, Samsung S22 Ultra phone, Samsung Flip 4, and other belongings worth approximately Rs. 3,50,000.
Following the incident, the Pernem Police registered a case under Section 379 of the IPC and immediately launched a thorough investigation. The entire police force was briefed about the theft case, and they were instructed to make diligent efforts in tracing the culprits.
On 13th June 2023, based on specific and reliable information received from reliable sources, a team comprising of PI Pernem Shri Sachin Lokre, PSI Vivek Halarnkar, PSI Harish Vaigankar, and officers Shashank Sakhalkar and Krishna Velip, conducted a well-planned operation near Morjim Church. The team successfully apprehended Mr. Gulbar, a 19-year-old male suspect hailing from Gogra ward No. 13, Gerki, Araria, Bihar.
During the arrest, the police recovered the stolen articles, including the iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 12, Samsung S22 Ultra phone, Samsung Flip 4, and a pair of sunglasses labeled ‘SCOTT,’ all valued at Rs. 3,50,000.
The investigation is currently underway under the supervision of PI Pernem Shri Sachin B. Lore and SDPO Pernem Shri Rajesh Kumar. The police are determined to gather further evidence and ensure a watertight case against the accused.
