State Election Commission Announces CCP Poll Schedule; Voting on March 11

Panaji: The Goa State Election Commission has announced the schedule for the General Election to the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), with polling set for March 11, 2026. The term of the present CCP body, elected in March 2021, will expire on March 29, 2026.

As per constitutional provisions and the City of Panaji Corporation Act, the Commission has completed all pre-poll formalities, including delimitation of 30 wards and preparation of ward-wise photo electoral rolls based on the Goa Legislative Assembly rolls as on January 1, 2025, along with subsequent updates. The ward-wise electoral rolls were published on February 6, 2026.

The reservation notification issued on February 10, 2026 provides for 10 seats for Women, 8 for OBC and 1 for ST, with no seat reserved for SC in CCP. A total of 32,496 voters (15,225 male and 17,271 female) will exercise their franchise across 48 polling booths. Elections will be held on non-party lines and voting will be conducted by ballot.

The last date for filing nominations is February 24, 2026, scrutiny will be held on February 25, withdrawal on February 26, and counting of votes will take place on March 13, 2026 at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium. The Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect in areas under CCP jurisdiction. The expenditure limit per candidate has been fixed at Rs. 2.5 lakh.

Meanwhile, bye-elections to 14 vacant wards of various Village Panchayats across Goa will be held on March 8, 2026, with counting on March 9. These elections will also be conducted on non-party lines, with a maximum expenditure limit of Rs. 40,000 per candidate.
