SETUP FILM CITY AT LAND EARLIER ALLOTED TO SEZ’S, NYLON-66 OR LAND AT BETUL – YURI ALEMAO

Margao – It is beyond ones imagination to see Entertainment Society of Goa issuing advertisment inviting private land owners having 250 acres of land for setting up Film City in Goa when the Treasury of the BJP Government is completely empty. I demand that Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant must direct Entertainment Society of Goa to explore land earlier alloted to SEZ’s, Nylon-66 or land at Betul for setting up of Film City, demanded Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.

I have a strong suspicion that BJP Government wants to oblige someone from the BJP Cadre who is a Real Estate Dealer and hence has instructed ESG to invite bids from private parties despite availability of Government land charged Yuri Alemao.

Entertainment Society of Goa has miserably failed to even keep the standard of International Film Festival of India by converting it into a Domestic Event. I dare the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to reveal the data of delegates who attended last five editions of the so-called mega festival, challenged Yuri Alemao.

BJP Government must first explain to the Goans what is the present status of the overhyped Convention Centre at Dona Paula which was promised to be inaugurated during 50th edition of IFFI. What is the exact benefit to Goa and Goan Film Makers from IFFI on which Government is spending 20 to 25 crores every year, stated Yuri Alemao.

I also demand that Government must first place in public domain the Project Report of the proposed Film City and take suggestions from experts and stakeholders before incurring expenditure on purchase of land, Yuri Alemao said.
