Schools leave early as heat wave grips Goa

Panaji: Schools across Goa are dismissing classes before 12 noon for two days, March 9 and 10, in the wake of a heat wave warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa Circle.

The Education Department issued a circular this morning whilst the classes were underway, following directions from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to conclude classes by noon last night.

The respective schools alerted parents through various groups created to communicate with the parents. The government has also urged people to remain hydrated and if possible to avoid outdoor travel between 12 noon and 4 pm.
